Planning and Development of the CAIF at Vigyanpuri: The Committee will ensure that all CAIF category instruments and facilities are successfully installed and commissioned at Vigyanpuri campus in a phase-wise manner.

Oversight of the CAIF operations: The committee will oversee the day-to-day operations of the facility, ensuring that equipment is properly maintained, and ensuring that the facility is available for use by researchers as needed following the rules developed for such usage.

Maintenance and Upgrades: The committee will ensure that all equipment in the facility is well-maintained, repaired promptly (if necessary), and upgraded as needed to ensure that it remains state-of-the-art. The group will take the necessary steps to ensure that CAIF serves the nation through its high throughput performance.

Budget and resource allocation: The committee will develop and manage the facility’s budget with strategic guidance and directives by the Dean, R&D, including allocating resources for equipment upgrades, recommending personnel engagements, and other operational costs, including consumables. The committee will also strategise, guide and oversee the procurement process for new instruments and facilities.

Safety and regulatory compliances: The Committee will ensure that the facility is operated in compliance with all relevant safety and regulatory requirements. Develop Standards Operating Procedures (SoP), best practice guides, training manuals (user and operational).

User support and training: The Committee will ensure user support and training (including train-the-trainer programs for in-house & external users), including orientation to the facilities equipment, technical support and assistance with data analysis.

Strategic Planning: The Committee will develop and implement a strategic plan for the facility, including identifying opportunities for growth and expansion, and developing partnerships with other research institutions and organisations nationally and globally.

Enhancing research potential: The Committee will work towards encouraginginter-, multi- and trans-disciplinary R&D activities by creating a collaborative platform for the users of the facility. Ensure that CAIF remains at the forefront of scientific endeavour.

Return-on-Investment: Develop schema of tariffs for CAIF usage by internal and external (other R&D and academic institutions and industry) agencies and individuals, both nationally and globally.

Communication and outreach: The Committee is responsible for communicating with researchers and stakeholders about the facility’s capabilities, services, and opportunities for collaborations.

The committee may also work out on any other related matters about the planning and functioning of the CAIF.
