Amit Kumar Simlandy - IISER berhampur

Biography

Amit was born and had his early education in Rampurhat, West-Bengal. He completed his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degree in chemistry from Visva-Bharati University. Amit earned his doctoral degree in 2018 under supervision of Prof. Santanu Mukherjee from Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore where he focused on developing enantioselective transformations. During his stays in Prof. M. Kevin Brown’s lab at Indiana University and in Prof. Keary M. Engle’s lab at The Scripps Research Institute, CA as a Postdoctoral fellow, he developed several olefin functionalization reactions using transition metal catalysts. After completion of five years of postdoctoral studies in US, Amit joined Department of Chemical Sciences, IISER Berhampur as an Assistant Professor. He enjoys spending time with family.
