Gohil Singh Thakur - IISER berhampur

Biography

Dr. Thakur earned his PhD degree in solid state chemistry from IIT Delhi in 2016 (advisor Prof. Ashok K. Ganguli). He was a visiting scientist at the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Physics of Solids, Dresden (with Martin Jansen and Claudia Felser) between 2016 and 2020. He was then a postdoctoral research associate at the Technical University of Dresden (with Michael Ruck, 2021-2023). In Jan 2024 he joined as an Assistant Professor at the department of Chemical Science, IISER Berhampur. His current research interests primarily revolve around solid state synthesis of magnetically frustrated, high temperature magnetic and superconducting materials. He has developed an interest in quantum materials based on metal chalcogenides and oxides, particularly containing Ru, Os and Ir. He is also interested in crystal growth of new inorganic solids using various growth techniques and their structural characterization using PXRD and SCXRD techniques.
