Introduction

Welcome to the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Berhampur, established in 2016 under the umbrella of the Indian government's Ministry of Education (formerly known as the Ministry of Human Resources). Renowned for its commitment to global excellence, we are a hub of transformative education, groundbreaking research, and more.

Our institution thrives within a dynamic and research-driven academic environment. We offer a range of programs, including a comprehensive 5-year BS-MS program, iPhD and PhD options spanning diverse fields such as biology, chemistry, mathematics, physics, and Earth & Environmental sciences. Our distinguished faculty guide students through state-of-the-art educational laboratories, fostering hands-on experiments and advanced research that lay the groundwork for a robust education and promising careers in fundamental sciences.

Since our inception, we have seen 45 graduates from the 2016 batch and 62 from the 2017 cohort receive their BS-MS degrees across disciplines like Biological, Chemical, Mathematical, and Physical Sciences. This year, we proudly celebrate the graduation of 102 students from the 2018 batch with BS-MS degrees. Additionally, four iPhD students have successfully earned their MS degrees. Notably, the Institute has conferred its inaugural set of PhD degrees, with two Research Scholars at its 3rd Convocation held on July 21, 2023. Our 2022 BS-MS program is a melting pot of 193 students from various corners of the country, all coming together to shape their academic journey at IISER Berhampur.
