Education has long been central to the emergence of scholarship and human civilisation. Throughout history, many exemplary educational institutions — from Nalanda and Takshashila to Oxford and Cambridge — have shaped generations of thinkers, philosophers, and teachers.
Drawing on this historical knowledge and understanding of the evolution of scholarly education, the lecture explores the shifting landscape of higher education in India.
It aims to reflect on lessons from the past and critically examine the current scenario of Indian science education, with a special focus on ensuring relevance while pursuing excellence.
