Dr Anabik Pal is an enthusiastic academician and researcher in the machine (deep) learning field. He works as an assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Berhampur, Odisha. He is researching two fundamental domains: privacy-preserving machine learning focused on model development without direct access to raw data, and machine learning in resource-constrained environments. His primary research objective is to advance machine learning algorithms for the multifaceted challenges of automated medical image analysis. While his expertise lies in medical image analysis, Dr. Pal is open to research on other application domains. He actively seeks students at various academic levels with strong programming skills and a solid understanding of statistics and probability to collaborate on research projects.
Dr Anabik Pal started his career in Computer Science after completing his studies at a higher secondary level. He did the Bachelor of Science (2005-08) course with Computer Science Hons. from Ramakrishna Mission Residential College, Kolkata; Master of Computer Application (2008-11) from Jadavpur University, Kolkata; and Master of Engineering (2011-13) from Jadavpur University, Kolkata. After that, he joined the Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata, West Bengal, India, as a doctoral fellow and received PhD in computer science in 2019. He went to the US to do post-doctoral research (Dec 09, 2021- Dec 17, 2022) at the National Library of Medicine (NLM) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). During his stay in the US, he received the prestigious Intramural post-doctoral fellowship (Feb 22, 2022- Dec 17, 2022) of the National Institutes of Health and ORISE post-doctoral fellowship (Dec 09, 2021- Feb 21, 2022).
