Biography

Dr. Charan Teja Tejavath is an Assistant Professor (Grade I) in the Department of Earth and Environmental Science at Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Berhampur. His research focuses on climate variability and change across past, present, and future timescales, with particular emphasis on the Indian monsoon system, paleoclimate modeling, tropical Indo-Pacific climate drivers, air–sea interactions, cloud microphysics, and polar weather and climate processes. He employs a combination of numerical modeling, observational datasets, and field measurements to investigate monsoon variability, climate teleconnections, extreme weather events, and their impacts under changing climate conditions. His work aims to advance the understanding of atmospheric processes and contribute to improved weather and climate prediction capabilities. 

Dr. Tejavath has extensive field research experience in both polar regions, including the Arctic and Antarctica. Prior to joining IISER Berhampur, he served as a Scientist at the National Centre for Earth Science Studies, Ministry of Earth Sciences, Thiruvananthapuram. He also worked as a Project Scientist-I at the National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research and, before that, as a Research Associate-I at the Centre for Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences.
